French curve. Wrap. Slim. Elite. Are we talking dress shapes? Handbags? Well, toilet seats actually!
Yes, there is a look. There is a shape. And there is a definite trend! Kohler Company, the global specialist in bathroom design, has released its latest take on the toilet seat styles that are trending in Australia today.
Shape – read aesthetics – is a key consideration, as is hygiene. Kohler’s latest offering places both of these demands at the top of its features list.
With models such as the Grande (in back to the wall and wall hung configurations) Kohler offers a choice of three toilet seat options – all of which fit the same toilet pan.
The Wrap, whereby the lid wraps over the seat, is a more conventional design, producing a seamless profile. The Slim is a very low profile seat and lid that is an inspired choice for the contemporary bathroom.

The third and most deluxe offering is the Elite – an identical profile to the Slim but with the added benefit of a concealed scent dispenser (activated when the user comes in contact with the seat) and a night light.
The Elite seat comes with a fragrance trial pack. Just add AAA batteries to activate your motion sensing LED night light!
The comfort of the seat is a vital aspect of the seat design and Kohler opts for high quality, non-stain resin in a smooth, contoured shape that ensures a comfortable, ergonomic fit on posteriors of many sizes.
Veil is the brand’s flagship intelligent toilet – a self-cleaning bidet and toilet in one appliance – featuring the French curve heated seat with a gently dished shape to minimise the pressure points and create extra comfort. The seat is made from an antibacterial material to enhance hygiene levels while its deodorising carbon filter and LED night light provide extra convenience. Special mention should be made of the Veil’s balanced curves and sculpted form that inject a sense of beauty into any bathroom space.
The Veil Wall Hung Intelligent Toilet
Such is the importance of superior design in the humble toilet seat that ModernLife, Kohler’s most recent addition, has even won a prestigious international design award! Modern Life, the brand’s first truly rimless toilet, available in back to wall suite and wall faced configurations, received the Red Dot Design Award for discreet design and outstanding practical cleaning features.
Modern Life offers the choice of Slim or Elite seats for both pan configurations.
Toilet seats such as Kohler’s Grande, Reach, Modern Life and Parliament are quiet close with vertical quick release operation – the seat can be quickly detached with a ‘one-hand lift’ for fast and easy cleaning.
Have you heard about smart toilets but wonder what all the fuss is about? Toilets have finally entered the realms of sophisticated design and new generation hygiene…
Introducing the Veil Wall Faced IntelligentToilet
The release of Kohler’s Veil intelligent toilet, in a wall faced design, is the ultimate pairing of pure, ergonomic design and customised personal cleansing, operated via a touchscreen LCD remote control. The fluid, balanced curves and minimalist design of the Veil Wall Faced intelligent toilet contain some of the most advanced features in optimal toilet hygiene and individual comfort.
Every aspect of the Veil toilet experience is hands free – including an auto, touch-less flush – with a focus on absolute comfort. The cover and ergonomically designed seat are motion-activated while the temperature of the heated seat can be adjusted for optimal comfort. And for total peace of mind, the bowl can be LED lit for night time visits.
Combining both a toilet and a modern-day bidet, the Veil’s advanced personal cleansing functions can be customised for water temperature; spray style, position and pressure; plus pulsate and oscillate functions. The precision air dryer can also be adjusted to personal preferences for temperature.
On sitting down, a fan is activated which draws air from the toilet bowl through a carbon filter to remove odours and help keep the bathroom fresh.
In line with the hands-free design of the Veil – which sports an uber-hygienic rimless bowl – the wand is self-cleaning, using UV light and electrolysed water systems to sanitise its surfaces every 24 hours, which can be pre-set by the owner/user at the point of installation.
The Veil wall faced intelligent toilet, is a compact toilet with elongated bowl and French curve seat for added room and comfort. It features an in-wall fully concealed cistern with a 3/4.5L flush.
The Veil is also available in a wall hung configuration.
Inspired by the organic minimalism of Scandinavian design, this bathroom design featuring Kohler products showcases a modern aesthetic with an eye toward the natural world. Bathroom fixtures featured include the Kallos Spun Glass Basin – a beautifully crafted, multi-faceted under bench basin design and the Stillness hob mounted basin set. The unique texture of the Nature’s Chemistry Kallos spun glass basins is the perfect complement to the sleek, hard marble surface, while the Stillness’ high-arch spout and ergonomic lever handles adds to the understated design, creating a calm, minimalist style for modern bathrooms and spa environments.

With a slim profile and tubular design, this tapware design mirrors the round shape of the basin, while the reflective facets of cut glass make this undercounter basin shine like a jewel.
The bathroom design is carried into the master bedroom’s adjacent sitting area, bringing a cohesiveness to the entire master suite. The Kallos basin’s faceted glass reflects the room’s moody depth.
View through to the bathroom from the living space continues the ‘Nordic Light’ scandi theme.
Simply designed organic accent pieces reinforce the room’s Scandinavian style such as the uniquely hung pendant lights which provide an interesting contrast to a sleek, simple mirror.
Pendant lamps paired with the framed mirror sets the scene for activities at the vanity.
True Scandi-style accessories set the perfect scene.
Custom photo-realistic wallpaper draws on nature-inspired elements of Scandinavian design and brings the outdoors in.

Bill has designed resorts and landscapes all over the world and his credo is minimal impact and sustainability – first and foremost Therefore one of this first considerations before starting a project is “How can I protect the environment?”
Bill Bensley incorporates sculptures into his landscaping designs as part of the “storyline”.
Bill believes that everything must go back to the DNA and all elements should have a clear storyline, flowing like a good Hollywood movie.
